Vega S Smartwatch Review — Health and Accuracy

The Vega S is the new premium smartwatch from Vega Technology, with a declared focus on health monitoring for everyday and sports use. With a 1.4" AMOLED screen with Always-On Display, optical heart rate and ECG sensors, oximeter, skin temperature sensor, and dual-band GPS, the product competes in the segment where the Apple Watch Series 10 and Garmin Forerunner 265 dominate. We tested the Vega S for five weeks with a focus on health data accuracy.

Sensor Accuracy: What the Data Shows

We compared the Vega S's heart rate readings with a Polar H10 chest strap (considered the accuracy reference) in 12 running and cycling sessions. The result was impressive: the average difference was ±2 BPM at moderate intensity and ±4 BPM at high-intensity peaks — a result comparable to what we get from the Apple Watch Series 10 in the same tests. The single-lead ECG worked correctly in detecting sinus rhythm and correctly identified two premature beat episodes in a user with a diagnosed cardiac condition (confirmed by a physician).

The dual-band GPS (L1+L5) plotted routes with excellent accuracy even in dense urban environments with building canyons. The route difference calculated versus reference GPS stayed below 2% on most routes. The SpO2 sensor showed acceptable consistency, with readings within ±2% of a certified clinical pulse oximeter.

Battery, Software, and Verdict

With Always-On Display active and continuous heart rate monitoring, the battery lasted 4 days and 14 hours in our tests — above the announced 4 days. With AOD disabled, we reached 6 days and 8 hours. The operating system is fluid with quick touch response, but the app ecosystem is still limited compared to WearOS and watchOS. For users who prioritize reliable health metrics without paying for the Apple ecosystem, the Vega S is one of the best options on the market.
