Orion Z Smartphone Review — Versatile Camera and Long Battery
The Orion Z is the brand's new bet in the premium mid-range segment, with a triple camera system co-engineered with a European optics manufacturer and a 5,500 mAh battery promising two days of moderate use. We tested the device for four weeks to assess whether it delivers on its two main marketing promises: photography and battery life.
Camera: Versatile in Light, Limited in the Dark
The 200 MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture and OIS impresses in good lighting conditions: daytime photos have excellent detail level, natural color processing (without the oversaturation common in Asian competitors), and fast autofocus even in dynamic scenes. The portrait mode is one of the best we've tested in this price range, with convincing subject separation and background blur.
The 5x periscope telephoto lens pleasantly surprises — it maintains acceptable quality up to 10x zoom, which is not guaranteed in cameras in this range. The 12 MP ultra-wide is adequate for landscapes and architecture, without the edge distortion problems that compromise some competitors. The weak point is low-light performance: in night scenes without night mode activated, noise is visible; with night mode, quality improves but still lags behind the category leaders.
Battery, Overall Performance, and Verdict
The 5,500 mAh battery fulfilled the two-day promise under moderate use — browsing, social media, and a few hours of streaming. Under heavy use with camera and gaming, it drops to about 18 hours. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip guarantees fluidity in any application, without excessive heating. The 6.7" AMOLED screen at 120Hz is bright and well calibrated. The Orion Z delivers a coherent proposition: versatile camera, generous battery, and no-surprises performance, in a package that competes well with similarly-priced imports.
